Introduction

Livadia Palace, located about 3 kilometers southwest of Yalta in Crimea, Ukraine, was once the summer palace of the last Tsar of Russia, Nicholas II. Nowadays, the palace has been transformed into a museum and occasionally used by Ukrainian authorities for international conferences. In 1879, the Treaty of Livadia was signed at the palace between the Qing Dynasty and Russia, and it is also known as the Treaty of Yalta. In 1945, the leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union - Franklin D. Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, and Joseph Stalin - signed the Yalta Agreement at the Livadia Palace during the Yalta Conference.
