Introduction

The building is one of the representative structures of the Joseon Dynasty, designated as Treasure No. 141 along with the Daejojeon Hall, which enshrines the tablet of Confucius. Mingluntang was the classroom of Sungkyunkwan, where students received education and lectures. These buildings were symbols of the policy of worshipping Confucianism and reflected the religious and cultural values of the time. Today, Mingluntang is located within "Sungkyunkwan University" and serves as a witness to the development of education in South Korea and globally. Mingluntang has become the prototype for the engraved image on the Korean won, permanently recording its important position in Korean history and culture.
