Introduction
Hwahyeodong is a place with a long history, only three stops away from Gyeongbokgung Palace and Insadong, and only a half-hour walk away. Since the Joseon Dynasty, it has been the location of the court's educational institutions. Most colleges in Hwahyeodong are located here, even Seoul National University has been stationed here. In 2010, when the Korean drama "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" became popular throughout Asia, it was set against the backdrop of the ancient Joseon's highest academy, Sungkyunkwan, which developed into Sungkyunkwan University.
Daehak-ro refers to the road between the roundabout in Hwahyeodong and the intersection of Lihua-dong, and it is the epitome of youth. Although it is not as famous as Beijing's 798 Art District, it is also full of creativity and passion from young people, with various sculptures, performances, art galleries, small bars and more. The atmosphere here gives people a lovely student feeling.
There are street shops everywhere on Daehak-ro in Hwahyeodong, with affordable prices, making it a great shopping paradise for young girls. There are all kinds of stationery, creative decorations, clothing and miscellaneous items, even discounted hair accessories at particularly attractive prices. However, before shopping, one must plan the time and budget as even though the prices are reasonable, women can easily get addicted and lose track of time here. Besides shopping, there are two things that are highly recommended: one is to find a coffee shop among the numerous ones and enjoy a wonderful time, and the other is to go to the Lihua-dong mural village, which became famous in "Rooftop Prince".
