Introduction

Located on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, Stonehenge is one of Europe's famous prehistoric cultural temple sites and one of the most iconic symbols in Britain. These interlocking stones may seem random, but archaeologists believe that they were built around 3000 B.C. These massive stones, which have been around for 4300 years, still leave people speechless because it is still unknown how they were transported and erected. The most striking stones are located in the center of the site, with the highest being 8 meters tall and weighing nearly 30 tons, surrounded by massive stone pillars forming a circular array with a diameter of over 100 meters. However, what is truly amazing is that some large stones weighing up to 7 tons are resting on top of two standing stones. It was once believed that Stonehenge was built to record the path of the sun, as a tombstone or for ritual purposes, but its true purpose is still a mystery. Standing in the middle of this incredible wonder, one can release all human energy, experience its magic, and even boldly speculate on the true meaning of this mysterious building.

Opening hours

From April 1 to May 31, 2014, open daily from 9:30 to 19:00. From June 1 to August 31, open daily from 9:00 to 20:00. From September 1 to October 15, open daily from 9:30 to 19:00. Closed on October 24 and 25, 2014. From March 16 to March 29, 2015, open daily from 9:30 to 19:00. From October 16, 2014, to March 15, 2015, open daily from 9:30 to 17:00.

Transportation

You can take a train to Salisbury and then transfer to a bus, but this method takes longer. The most convenient way is to join a tour. There is no need to transfer or wait for public transportation. The Scarper tour takes 3 hours round trip. Departure times: 13:00 from January 1st to March 9th and from October 29th to December 31st; 10:00 and 14:00 from March 10th to June 15th and from August 28th to October 28th; 9:00, 12:30 and 16:00 from June 16th to August 27th. No tours are available on December 24th, 25th, 26th, and January 1st. The ticket price is 19 pounds excluding the Stonehenge admission fee. You can book online at www.scarpertours.com. There are other tours that go to multiple attractions. You can inquire at the visitor center.
