Introduction

Gate of Dawn is located at the southern edge of the old town of Vilnius. It was built in the 16th century and is the only well-preserved city gate out of nine in this city. Inside the gate, there is a chapel of Our Lady of Vilnius, which houses a black and gold statue of the Virgin Mary. This statue is one of the most sacred images in Polish Catholicism.
