Introduction
Du Xing Shi Village is one of the oldest military dependents' villages in Taiwan. Its predecessor was the Ma Gong Heavy Artillery Team military facility, officials' quarters, and dormitories during the Japanese occupation period. After the war, the National Army received and allocated it to military dependents to live in. As the number of military dependents increased, the military built dormitories near the Japanese-style houses, forming a unique group of dormitories as they are today. Located near the Ma Gong ancient city walls, the building materials of Du Xing Shi Village mainly include bamboo, wood, woven bamboo and mud walls, lime, yellow mud, basalt, and sulfur stones. The building structure is combined with local characteristics and has some Western styles.
Du Xing Shi Village is located in Xinfu Village, Ma Gong City, Penghu County. It is a historic military dependents' village. In 2006, Penghu County Government listed the dormitories as historic buildings and planned them as a "Military Dependents' Village Cultural Park." In recent years, Penghu County Government has actively carried out reconstruction work, connecting Du Xing Shi Village with the National Monument "Shun Cheng Gate" and the "Ma Gong Ancient City Wall," making it a scenic spot with cultural and historical value.
In addition to the unique dormitory group with a distinctive historical background, Du Xing Shi Village has also nurtured many famous artists, such as Pan Anbang and Zhang Yusheng, who sang popular songs. Their old residences have now been planned as art exhibition spaces and memorials, adding more rich cultural connotations to the military dependents' village. In addition, Ke Zhendong's father also lived in Du Xing Shi Village when he was a child. Address 22, Lane 2, Xinfu Road, Magong City, Penghu County
