Introduction
Rose Lake (or Lake Retba) is located 35 kilometers northeast of the capital city of Dakar, Senegal, and is known as "Pink Lake" by the locals. It is a saltwater lake with an area of only 3 square kilometers, presenting a vibrant pink color and standing quietly in the golden desert, adjacent to the blue Atlantic Ocean, providing a very special scenery. The brilliant color of the Rose Lake is created by salt-loving microorganisms. The salinity of the lake water varies with the seasons, ranging from light green to deep red.
