Introduction

Clingmans Dome, also known as Clingman's Peak, is located between Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Tennessee, reaching an altitude of 2025 meters, and it is the highest point in the region and the highest point of the Appalachian Trail. There is an observation deck on the top of the mountain that requires hiking, and it offers stunning views up to 130 kilometers away. Clingmans Dome is one of the sacred mountains in the local Indian culture and is respected and revered by the Cherokee people.

It's a few hundred meters hike from the end of the highway to reach the top of the mountain, or you can take a more than 30-kilometer hiking route from Sugarlands Visitor Center to reach here.
