Introduction

Trakai Castle is located on a heart-shaped island in the center of Lake Galve. Built in the late 14th century, it is the only well-preserved ancient castle and one of the most famous tourist attractions in Lithuania. The castle is made of pink bricks and is stunning from afar. The walls are very strong and there are watchtowers and moats around the castle. During the 14th-16th century, Lithuanian dukes lived here. The appearance of the castle conforms to people's imagination of the Middle Ages and is beautiful from any angle. However, entering the castle may be somewhat disappointing as it has been renovated and lacks a sense of history. Nevertheless, Trakai Castle is still worth a visit. It is one of Lithuania's precious historical heritage sites and a must-see for tourists visiting the area.
