Introduction

The art museum is located in the Seto Inland National Park, emphasizing environmental protection, with nearly 70% of the building deeply buried underground and the entrance built along the slopes of hills. The museum is a Shigeru Ban architecture with a permanent collection of Monet's five "Water Lilies" paintings. Monet suffered from cataracts in his later years when creating "Water Lilies." Tadao Ando arranged a path in the underground art museum to simulate a delicate and pure sensory world, expressing the concept of "prefer darkness to brightness and underground to above ground."
