Introduction

This historic building is located in the center of the old town of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was built in 1531 by the then-Ottoman Empire Governor of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gazi Husrev-beg. The temple was heavily damaged in the civil war and underwent reconstruction in the 1990s. It has become the largest and most important historical building and Islamic religious center in all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The center of the temple features a mausoleum where many great figures of Bosnian history are laid to rest.

Transportation
Take trams No. 1, 2, 3, or 5 and get off at the Latin Bridge station. Walk northward into the old town and start at the Sebiji circular building in the center of the old town. Walk along Saraci Street for a short distance to reach the destination.
