Introduction

In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, there is a magnificent canyon called the Verdon Gorge, which is 25 kilometers long and 700 meters deep. It attracts many outdoor enthusiasts to visit every year. Some of the famous attractions include Lake Sainte-Croix, the ceramics town of Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, and the lavender sanctuary of Valensole. It is worth mentioning that there are shuttle buses available to travel between the ceramics town or Castellane and cities such as Digne-les-Bains, Avignon, Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, and Nice.

Transportation

Towns are scattered within the natural reserve, so the best way to travel is by driving or taking a local tour. Public transportation is available by taking the LER bus from Avignon to Digne-les-bains, which takes about 3.5 hours and costs 15.6 euros. During July and August, there is a daily SUMIAN bus from Marseille that passes through several towns in the gorge, taking about 3 hours and costing 22.4 euros.
