Introduction
The Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, located at the site of the Okinawa International Marine Expo, is a large comprehensive park covering an area of 700,000 square meters. This subtropical-themed park is themed "sunshine, flowers, and sea" and is the world's second-largest ocean park, second only to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.
The park is full of spectacular views, shining tropical fish, the world's largest sharks and rays, and fresh coral reefs, allowing people to immerse themselves in the world of the ocean. The Okinawa Aquarium is also widely recognized for its two impressive world records - the world's largest tank for feeding sharks and the world's earliest dolphin exhibit.
The Okichan Theater, the dolphin performance venue at the Okinawa Aquarium, is just a five-minute walk away. The audience can watch the performance for free without any additional charges. In addition, the Dolphin Studio provides students with the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of marine science.
The park also includes a 77-hectare area that includes an aquarium, dolphin theater, white sand beach, marine culture museum, tropical dream center, tropical botanical garden, and Okinawan village. Nearly 200 species of tropical fish and rare fish such as roosterfish and bamboo fish gracefully swim in the deep blue seawater, while creatures such as snappers and spider crabs are also present. Opening hours Ocean Park is open from 8:00 to 19:30 from March to September, and from 8:00 to 18:00 from October to February of the next year. The associated area of the aquarium is open from 8:00 to 20:30 from March to September, and from 8:00 to 19:00 from October to February of the next year. The park is closed for facility inspection on the first Wednesday and Thursday of December every year.
Transportation Take the No. 111 express bus or Nos. 20 or 120 local bus from Naha Bus Terminal to the bus terminal in Nago. Transfer there to either the No. 65, 66 or 70 bus and get off at the Kinen-koen-mae bus stop. Follow signs on foot to the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, which takes around 2.5-3 hours in total.
