Introduction

The Peace Memorial Park, located across from Suicide Cliff, is a memorial site for casualties of war. Its aim is to mourn the loss of life, remind people to cherish peace, and pray for world peace. In the center of the plaza stands a cross and a statue of Guan Yin (the Goddess of Mercy), from which one can overlook the beautiful scenery of the northern part of Saipan. The park's existence is a reminder to people to remember the heavy price of war, and to present the preciousness of peace to the world.
