Introduction
In a few white tower buildings, there stands a black statue of Sir Stamford Raffles, alongside the Victoria Concert Hall and Theatre. The area is peaceful and comfortable, with boats sailing on the beautiful and charming Singapore River. Sir Stamford Raffles was an important political figure during the British colonial period, as well as one of the founders of Singapore's port city and one of the founders of the British Far East Empire.
