Introduction

Shuidonggou, the earliest discovered Paleolithic cultural site in China, is the starting point of prehistoric archaeology in China and a historical witness of cultural exchange between China and the West. It is a key national cultural relic protection unit, a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and geological park, recognized as one of the 100 major cultural relics protection sites and one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in Chinese civilization. Due to its unique charm, Shuidonggou has also won the silver award for "50 places in China worth visiting for foreigners".
