Introduction

Da Xiangguo Temple, originally named Jianguo Temple, is the location where the story of Lu Zhishen pulling down a willow tree in "Water Margin" took place, as well as being a royal temple in the Song Dynasty. Nowadays, most of the temple has been rebuilt in recent years, and there are no longer any statues in the Great Hall of the Great Heroes. However, there are often precious cultural relics and art exhibitions. The Luohan Hall, also known as the "Octagonal Glazed Hall," is an octagonal corridor-style building that houses a spectacular wooden statue of the Four Sided Thousand-Armed Thousand-Eyed Avalokitesvara from the Qianlong period. The Scripture Hall is a venue for the activities of the Kaifeng Painting and Calligraphy Academy, where people can enjoy and buy various calligraphy and painting works. In addition, there is a precious bronze bell hanging in the pavilion in the eastern corner of the temple.
