Introduction

Liu Gong Island is located in Weihai Bay on the Shandong Peninsula and is a shining pearl. It is 2.1 nautical miles away from the city center of Weihai, covering an area of 3.15 square kilometers, with a length of 4.08 kilometers from east to west, and a width of 1.5 kilometers at its widest point. Qiding Mountain is the highest point on the island, with an altitude of 153.5 meters. Due to its strategic location, it has always been a military stronghold and is known as the "screen of the eastern corner" and the "unsinkable battleship". Liu Gong Island is the first national sea forest park in China, with a forest coverage rate of up to 87%, and a beautiful ecological environment, known as the "fairy island on the sea" and the "idyllic paradise". The island has a maritime climate, with warm winters and cool summers, and an average temperature of around 12°C, making it an ideal place for vacation, summer escapes, and convalescence. Liu Gong Island is not only known for its natural scenery, but also as the birthplace of the Beiyang Navy and an important battlefield of the Sino-Japanese War.
