Introduction

The Ling Shan Giant Buddha stands tall on the south side of Qinyun Peak in Mashan, Wuxi. The small Ling Shan mountain where the Buddha is located was named by the Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang, hence its name. Facing the Taihu Lake and backed by Ling Shan, the Buddha smiles kindly and looks broadly at sentient beings from all directions, holding profound symbolic significance for local social, cultural, and economic development. The skirt room at the base of the Buddha's seat is specially equipped with two elevators to facilitate visitors and believers to climb up to the lotus seat, walk to the feet of the Buddha to touch and stroke them, known as "hugging the Buddha's feet," a rare opportunity for spiritual practice.
