Toshoan is a confectionery shop founded in the 25th year of the Showa era, beloved by the local community for many years. The shop offers over 20 types of sweets, including puddings, cakes, and chocolates, all based on bean paste and combining the best of Japanese and Western dessert characteristics. Additionally, the shop sells homemade bean paste used for making sweets, which is also very popular among housewives.

CURRY&BAR 240

Located a 10-minute walk from Nijo Station, CURRY & BAR 240 is an Indian curry restaurant. One half of the interior walls is covered with hardcore punk posters, while the other side features a painting of the elephant-headed god Ganesha, creating a highly energetic space. The aroma of spices constantly wafting from the kitchen is sure to whet your appetite. The signature dish, 240 Special Curry, is a unique Japanese-style curry featuring a combination of four bases: chicken curry, Pakistani curry, spicy beef tendon curry, and mackerel with burdock root.

Shorenkan

Taiza crab, also known as Matsuba crab, is called the 'crab of dreams' by the Japanese. Its meat is tender, fresh, and sweet, and the crabs are as large as basins. Once you taste it, other crabs will no longer be appealing. Shorenkan uses Taiza crabs weighing 1.2 kilograms each, filling the table. First, taste the fresh sweetness of chilled raw crab, then steamed crab, followed by charcoal-grilled crab, crab shell steamed egg, crab roe soup, crab hot pot, and finally, zosui (rice porridge).

Aomusubi

Green rice balls (青おにぎり) are located in the Jōdo-ji area of Sakyo Ward. The owner, Mr. Aomatsu, personally makes the rice balls, wrapping hot rice in crispy seaweed. In addition to the signature flavors of salmon and plum, there are also original flavors including small fish stir-fried with green peppers called 'Aoni's Claw', and cream cheese with dried bonito flakes, totaling more than 20 unique flavors.
This shop is not large, but it is very popular and always bustling with customers. The matcha ice cream inside is very delicious, with a very special and rich matcha flavor that is extremely refreshing. You can also choose to take some matcha products back as gifts for friends.
