Yuji Island, also known as Yujiao Island, is named after the Yujiao Temple. It is one of the 'Three Islands of Erhai'. The island has a well-preserved ancient Bai fishing village that is over a thousand years old. Attractions on the island include Yang Liping's private residences Sun Palace and Moon Palace, a thousand-year-old banyan tree, the Zhao Ancestral Hall, Qinglu, and Yubo Pavilion.
It is a typical ancient Bai village, relatively secluded and rustic compared to Yuji Island. Within the village, there is a Benzhu temple dedicated to a naval general from the Nanzhao period. There are many beautiful seaside inns here.
Hongshan Jingdi Temple
Also known as Hongshan Benzhu Temple, it enshrines a general from the Nanzhao period and is considered the most distinctive Benzhu Temple in the Erhai region.
Originally built in the third year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty, it was renovated during the Republic of China period. It enshrines Kuixing, the deity who governs the rise and fall of literary works. The pavilion is elegant and exquisite, making it a rare sight around Erhai Lake.
As one of the 'Three Islands of Erhai', this place holds the richest and most authentic Bai ethnic customs. It gathers the cultural heritage of Dali spanning four thousand years and the royal charm of six hundred years. Within the area, there are attractions such as Guanyin Melody, Nanzhao Palace, Benzhu Square, and Taihu Stone.
