Hongshi Gorge is a well-deserved name. The entire gorge is composed of red rock cliffs, belonging to the rare Danxia landform gorge landscape in northern China, with cliffs that are bright red. Hongshi Gorge combines beauty, elegance, grandeur, and steepness, integrating springs, waterfalls, streams, and valleys. It is the essence of Yuntai Mountain, known as the 'Bonsai Gorge' and the 'Natural Landscape Gallery'. These well-known accolades all highlight its extraordinary nature.
Tanpu Gorge
Tanpu Gorge, also known as Xiaozhai Valley, features scenery reminiscent of the Jiangnan region. The saying 'a spring every three steps, a waterfall every five steps, and a pool every ten steps' vividly describes the picturesque landscape of Tanpu Gorge. The sound of water is dynamic, with streams forming pairs and clusters, creating a lively and harmonious scene. The scenery is pleasant and resembles the beautiful Jiangnan, earning it the elegant nickname: Tanpu River.
Quanpu Gorge
Quanpu Gorge, also known as Laotan Valley, is renowned for its picturesque mountains and lush peaks. The 'Yuntai Heavenly Waterfall,' the highest waterfall in China with a drop of 314 meters, is located at the end of Quanpu Gorge. Additionally, there are other scenic spots such as 'Five Old Peaks,' 'Road Achievement,' 'Seventh-Rank Sesame Official,' 'Immortal Ferry,' 'Peacock Spring,' and 'Whispering Spring.' The total length of Quanpu Gorge is about 3 kilometers, with towering peaks on both sides creating a magnificent atmosphere. The high mountains in the valley resemble a painted screen, the flowers and trees in the mountains are like brocade, and the clear stream at your feet flows like clouds. The gorge is a symphony of strange rocks, mountain springs, floral fragrances, and flying waterfalls.
Zhuyu Peak
Zhuyu Peak, with an altitude of 1300 meters, has been a sacred place for literati, monks, and monasteries throughout the ages. It is densely vegetated with ancient and famous trees, including thousand-year-old yew, five-pointed maple, and Taihang flowers. The forest coverage rate reaches 93%, earning it the reputation of a natural oxygen bar. Climbing the thousand-step cloud ladder walkway to the 1300-meter-high Zhuyu Peak, one can see the continuous mountain ranges and undulating peaks, evoking a sense of grandeur as described in the famous line 'One must ascend to the summit to see all other mountains as small.' The great Tang Dynasty poet Wang Wei once climbed this peak and wrote the famous verse 'On the Ninth Day of the Ninth Month, Thinking of My Brothers in Shandong.'
Zifang Lake, also known as Ping Lake. Zhang Liang (courtesy name Zifang) once stood on the peak to the west of the valley, training soldiers day and night. After helping Liu Bang achieve great success, he retired here. The lake covers an area of 1500 acres and is about 4 kilometers long. The green mountains and clear waters embrace each other, presenting a magnificent landscape.
