Deyuan Baozi
This Deyuan Baozi shop is the only baozi shop of the century-old Deyuan. I give it a very high rating, and it's a must-try. The taste is particularly fragrant and sweet, and each baozi has a different flavor. Most importantly, the dough is quite soft and delicious. Even if it didn't have filling, I could still enjoy it as a steamed bun! Because of this unique quality, you will definitely regret it if you don't try it!
Qiao Bo Cold Noodles
This shop is recommended by people from Changsha. It is hard to find; I spent half an hour looking for it. It doesn't have a specific storefront and is located within a residential area, but there is a small sign to guide you. Make sure to keep an eye out!
Dongguashan Sausage
Dongguashan sausage is indeed a real sausage. The casing is soft and crispy, and the meat inside is tender and sweet, though a bit greasy. The most notable feature is that the meat inside the sausage is very prominent. As someone who enjoys various types of sausages, I can't accept this kind of sausage. It's not expensive, so you can give it a try. However, it seems that the locals really like it!
Changqing Tangyuan Shop
Scallion oil crispy mala tang costs 1.5 yuan per serving. It is very similar to the mianwo I had in Wuhan, but this has the flavor of scallions and oil, making it more fragrant. It is crispy, soft, and delicious.
Shuang Yan Lou
Red oil orchid tofu costs 6 yuan per serving. The tofu with chopped chili is spicy and delicious. One bite of the red oil orchid juice will satisfy your taste buds completely. This is the joy that food brings you! Green pea soup costs 5 yuan per bowl. It is meticulously cooked, and the green peas themselves are very tasty without any pea skins, providing a great texture! Highly recommended! A portion of fresh meat wontons costs 9 yuan, with 10 small wontons in total. They are very affordable, with fresh and delicious meat filling, thin skin, and large filling. After finishing, drink a sip of the soup, and you will feel satisfied!
Detianshun Covered Rice
People in Changsha call it Covered Rice, and it is known as the Hermes of Covered Rice. This immediately resonated with my taste buds, so I decided to go and try it. Here are some pictures as proof. The sour and spicy shredded squid covered rice (heavy flavor) costs 22 yuan per bowl. We chose a cheaper option, the most expensive one seems to be over 40 yuan. Haha, the taste is indescribable, super stimulating, very spicy. This covered rice gave me the taste of Hunan cuisine.
