"Hainan Fishing Village Travel Guide"

This guide is more suitable for people who have been to Hainan before and have visited all the major famous attractions. It is for those who want to experience a different life in a Hainan fishing village or those who want to have a deeper experience.

Xidao Fishing Village

Xidao is located in Sanya Bay, Sanya City. It is the second largest island after Dazhou Island (Wanning City) and is known as the 'Paradise on the Sea, Amusement Park'. It is a popular tourist destination for many visitors. The advantage of Xidao is its proximity to Sanya. The disadvantage is also its proximity to Sanya. The once peaceful and beautiful small fishing village has now developed into such a chaotic place. As a friend of mine who just returned from there said, 'Xidao used to be so interesting, even more fun than Wuzhizhou Island, but now it has turned into such a mess.' However, for friends who are not in a hurry, have enough money, and can really stay for a few days, there are still different experiences to be had.

Qionghai Tanmen Town Fishing Village

Surprisingly, a place known as Hainan's 'most beautiful fishing village', Tanmen Town, is located on the eastern coast of Qionghai City. At the same time, Tanmen Port is also known as the 'National Civilized Fishing Port' and the 'Millennium Fishing Port'. Tanmen Town has traditionally relied on fishing for its livelihood. There is a saying among the locals: China's seafood is in Hainan, and Hainan's seafood is in Tanmen. The allure of Tanmen Town's seafood can be the most important reason to visit here.

Tenghai Fishing Village

Also known as Houhai Fishing Village, it is adjacent to Wuzhizhou Island. The beach still retains its undeveloped primitive appearance. This place used to be a paradise, a place where people talked about everything. Just hearing the name Houhai makes people feel a bit longing. It is the only place in Sanya where I would recommend my friends to stay for a few days. There are many hostels and youth hostels, and the waves are big, making it a popular spot for kite surfing among foreigners. In the past, the buildings were chaotic, with electric wires and poles everywhere. At the corner, there was a house with a sign that read 'Inn'. The harbor is filled with fishing boats, and when the boats return, you can buy seafood, giving it a strong local flavor.

Xincun Fishing Port

Xincun Fishing Port in Lingshui is renowned for its natural harbor. At dawn, fishing boats return to the port one after another. Fishermen are busy transferring baskets of fresh fish from the large boats to smaller ones, and then to the shore. Thousands of fish vendors wait on the coast for their goods. Weighing, bargaining, accounting, laughing, and bustling—such lively scenes start at three o'clock every morning and continue until noon.

Baima Well Fishing Port

Baima Well is an ancient town with a history of over 2000 years. According to legend, when General Fubo led his army across the sea and landed here, they were troubled by the lack of fresh water. At that moment, his white horse stomped on the ground and a well appeared, hence the name 'Baima Well'. This name has been retained ever since. Located at the entrance of Danzhou Bay, Baima Well Fishing Port is close to the Beibu Gulf fishing grounds and faces Yangpu across the sea. The bay, deeply embedded inland, can effectively weaken the power of typhoons. Therefore, since ancient times, this place has not only been an important fishing port along the western coast of Hainan but also a safe haven from storms.

Xinying Port

Xinying Town is located on the coast of the Beibu Gulf, within the Houshui Bay, known as the 'First Bay for Raft Fishing in Hainan'. It faces Vietnam across the sea and is a relatively affluent coastal town. What makes it even more special is a unique way of eating Lingao seafood, commonly known as 'Tujiao Seafood' or 'Zhalu'. This involves smashing a very hot earthen stove, covering it, and cooking seafood. Additionally, various delicacies such as sweet potatoes, chicken, duck, and pig trotters can also be roasted.
