The "Seven Sisters" in Moscow

The Seven Sisters are a group of Stalinist buildings constructed during the last decade of Stalin's rule. They combine features of Baroque castle towers, medieval European Gothic style, and American 1930s skyscrapers.

Moscow State University

Heroic architecture, epic structure, unparalleled splendor—all these praises belong to the main building of Moscow State University. It is the eldest sister among the Seven Sisters, designed by the architect of the Palace of the Soviets, Lev Rudnev.
The lowest of the 'Seven Sisters', standing at only 134 meters, it has now been renamed Hilton Leningradskaya.

Ukraine Hotel

The second tallest building among the 'Seven Sisters', standing at 198 meters. When it was built, it was the tallest hotel in the world. It has been used as the state guesthouse of the former Soviet Union and Russia. Across the river is the White House, the seat of the Russian government.

Artists' Apartments

A place where former Soviet People's Artists lived. The main tower has 32 floors and is 176 meters high. Although the building is not particularly tall, the five-tiered converging structure makes the entire building appear very majestic.

House of Culture

This 176-meter-high, 22-story building with 452 apartments is almost entirely inhabited by political figures. The builders of this building were mainly political prisoners from the Gulag.

Ministry of Heavy Industry Building (Red Gate Building)

The name 'Red Gate Building' comes from Red Gate Square. The building has 24 floors, stands 133 meters tall, and construction began in 1947 and was completed in 1953. It is located near the Red Gate metro station in Moscow. The Red Gate Building was once the building of the Ministry of Heavy Industry of the Soviet Union.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building of Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building stands 172 meters tall with 27 floors. It was constructed between 1948 and 1953 and remains the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The building's facade is composed of light-colored stone adorned with a series of columns, and its interior features luxurious stone and metal decorations.
