8 hidden gem islands around Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai that you must not miss. These places offer picturesque and breathtaking scenery that will capture your heart at first sight.

Yushan Archipelago

Yushan Island, a paradise on earth and a scene from Monet's painting. Here, the sea is clear with unique reefs, offering beautiful scenery and water transparency exceeding 10 meters. Standing on the rocks, you can see various fish swimming freely in the water. Among the Yushan Archipelago, North Yushan Island is small, covering only 0.5 square kilometers. Due to its abundant freshwater resources, it currently has a population of three to four hundred people. The first impression Yushan Island gives is its fresh air, which is refreshing and invigorating. The azure sky and the blue sea make the island even more beautiful. If you're lucky, you might even see the bioluminescent sea!

Hua'ao Island

Hua'ao Island, a sea stone forest that is truly eye-opening. Hua'ao Island is located on the waters of the Sanmen Bay entrance in the southern part of Xiangshan County, Ningbo City, close to Taizhou City, and 12 nautical miles from the national central fishing port—Shipu Port. The island is named Hua'ao Island because of its many flowers and valleys. The island is covered with lush mountains and charming scenery, with 36 valleys and 108 caves, each valley has its own 'scenery' and each cave has its own 'immortal'. As early as the Southern and Northern Dynasties, it was called one of the '72 blessed places of the southern sky' by Taoists. Today, Hua'ao Island retains its original flavor and is full of magical charm.

Gouqi Island

Gouqi Island, a little Greece that captures your heart at first sight. This is a place where every village has a beach and every house has a sea view... The most visited spot is in Dawang Village, namely Dawang Beach—about 200 meters long and 20 meters wide. It not only has the most perfect coastline on Gouqi Island but is also the most popular spot here. No one passes by without stopping to play. The highest point on Gouqi Island is 'Xiaoxitian,' but generally, people can't reach that place. It's not because the mountain is high; the highest altitude is less than 200 meters.

Shengshan Island

Shengshan Island, a paradise for photographers. Shengshan Island is a favorite among photographers, attracting many each year to capture sunrises and sunsets, as well as returning fishermen. The island offers a variety of delicious seafood and is a great summer vacation spot. There are two must-see sights on Shengshan Island: one is the East Cliff on the island, and the other is the fishing lights of Shengshan Fishing Port. The island also features one of Shengsi's unique stone landscapes, the 'Lover's Stone.' The beach next to the Lover's Stone is a popular swimming spot for locals in the summer. Notably, the abandoned village in Houtuo Bay, photographed by photographer Qing Jian during his hike in the Shengsi Archipelago of Zhoushan, Zhejiang, went viral online. The village, located on the eastern coast, was abandoned due to harsh living conditions, with residents gradually relocating to the town on the western side of the island, leaving behind vine-covered stone houses.

Langgangshan Archipelago

Langgang Island, a paradise for sea fishing on the coast of the East China Sea. Due to the distance from Zhoushan Island, it usually takes 5-6 hours for ordinary boats to travel one way, totaling more than 10 hours for a round trip. Therefore, this fishing spot is generally within a two to three-day tour range. Of course, the main target fish species here are rarely seen in daily life: black sea bream, red sea bream, stone sea bream, and bass. It is said that the nearby waters are also rich in mussels, seaweed, sea cucumbers, oysters, yellow croaker, and sea bream, making it one of the main production areas of the Zhoushan fishing grounds.

Huaniao Mountain (Huanao Island)

Huanao Island, where flowers bloom naturally. Huanao Island is located at the northernmost part of the Shengsi Archipelago. Its shape resembles a seagull about to take flight, and the island is covered with flowers and plants, hence the name Huanao Island. Due to the year-round mist on the island, it is also known as Mist Island. The most famous landmark on Huanao Island is the Huanao Lighthouse, the second largest lighthouse in Asia. Every nightfall, the lighthouse emits a bright white light, bringing hope and courage to lost ships. Other must-see attractions on Huanao Island include Tiger Cave, Mist Cave, and Monkey Cave.

Dawen Island

Dawen Island, a camping paradise to gaze at the brilliant stars. It is an uninhabited island in the Zhoushan Archipelago. It is said that Dawen Island has a large beach and a freshwater well with sweet water. Climb the small hill behind to see the sea, the scenery is unbeatable, you can also collect sesame snails, and catch crabs at night to make delicious porridge. Rock fishing on the reef is great, and you might have unexpected catches, so fishing enthusiasts should not forget to bring their gear.

Dalu Island Scenic Area

Dalu Island, a dream journey to a mystical island forest. Dalu Island is isolated in the vast East China Sea, 6 nautical miles from Yuhuan Kanmen Port. It is covered in green all year round, blending mountain and sea scenery, like an emerald set in the vast blue waves. According to legend, in ancient times, a divine deer from the heavenly court stole and scattered celestial fruits on earth, and was consequently banished to the East China Sea, forming an isolated island in the shape of a deer, hence the name Dalu Island.
