Beaches worth visiting around Shenzhen

Every time someone asks me, "Where should I go to have fun in Shenzhen?" I always say, "Go to the beach!" Here, we have the longest coastline along the Guangdong coast, adjacent to Daya Bay. Whether it's summer or winter, there are sunny beaches and the sea, as well as endless gourmet seafood waiting for you to come and enjoy!

Xichong | The 'Hawaii of the East'

Known as the 'Hawaii of the East', Xichong Beach (also known as 'Xiyong Beach') is located at the southern tip of Dapeng Peninsula in Shenzhen. It is considered 'remote', with the sea on one side and mountains on three sides, offering unique and beautiful scenery. It has been rated as one of China's eight major beaches by 'Chinese National Geography' and is one of the best-preserved 'pure lands' in Shenzhen to date. Here, you can see the clearest azure waters and lush green forests, touch the soft and delicate sand, feel the gentle breeze, and listen to the sound of the waves, immersing yourself in the embrace of nature. Here, you can fully relax, play by the sea, stroll on the beach, engage in thrilling speedboat battles, DIY barbecues, and even participate in a real-life CS battle, enjoying yourself to the fullest.

Dongchong | Natural and Unadorned

Dongchong Beach (also known as 'Dongyong Beach') at the southernmost tip of Dapeng Peninsula in southeastern Shenzhen is a coastal sanctuary that has not yet undergone large-scale human development. Compared to Xichong, it is less commercialized and retains a more 'primitive' beauty. The seawater here is very blue and clear, the sand is very soft, the sea erosion holes are huge and intact, and the scenery is very tranquil. Walking into this place, you will feel as if you have entered an untouched paradise, with white sand, clear water, rising and falling tides, and a seamless blend of sea and sky. The gentle breeze will make you want to embrace the blue sea and sky before you. Additionally, the Dongchong to Xichong trail is Shenzhen's most beautiful and classic coastal hiking route, attracting many outdoor enthusiasts. Along the way, you can watch the waves crash against the rocks, feel the sea breeze, and experience a different kind of ocean sentiment.

Hongpaijiao | Red Coastal Rocks

Some say that among the many beaches on the Dapeng Peninsula, the most beautiful beach is at Hongpaijiao. Located on Dapeng Bay at the easternmost end of Shenzhen, Hongpaijiao faces Huizhou's Daya Bay across the sea. What makes this place special is the bizarrely shaped coastal rocks that are reddish-brown in color, hence the name 'Hongpaijiao'. This stretch is also the most beautiful coastline in Shenzhen, perfect for hiking. As you walk along this coastline, the rocks start to become colorful, and the scenery along the way is picturesque. Watching the fishing boats on the distant sea, listening to the sound of the waves crashing, and feeling the fresh sea breeze, you can enjoy the journey all the way.

Yangmeikeng | The Most Beautiful Valley Beach

Located in Daya Bay, Yangmeikeng is known as 'Shenzhen's Most Beautiful Valley.' Here, you will find many beaches that are not yet fully developed. You can see the sparkling blue sea, feel the fresh sea breeze, and take a romantic walk hand in hand with your loved one. Additionally, you can ride a yacht to battle the waves, rent a fishing boat to go out to sea, or hike to enjoy the views. Most notably, there is a cycling path here, considered the most romantic coastal leisure belt on the Dapeng Peninsula. Along the way, one side is the sea, and the other side is the mountains. Riding a tandem bicycle, you can watch the waves, listen to the crashing waves, and enjoy a carefree and leisurely time. Perhaps because it is so beautiful, this place has become a popular spot for newlyweds to take wedding photos and is also one of the filming locations for Stephen Chow's 'The Mermaid.'

Dameisha | Shenzhen's 'Pattaya'

Compared to other beaches, Dameisha is a well-developed public beach. Although it can be relatively crowded with tourists, the sand is soft and the sea is beautiful. The entire beach feels very much like Pattaya Beach in Thailand. The park's service facilities and water sports are very complete, with beach motorcycles, water motorcycles, parasailing, beach volleyball, and other recreational activities all available. If you are a water sports enthusiast, you definitely shouldn't miss this place! You can enjoy all the activities in one go and have an amazing time!

Xiayong | Huizhou 'Maldives'

Located in Xiayong, Huizhou, adjacent to Shenzhen and facing Hong Kong across the sea. Here lies a very beautiful bay with a three-kilometer-long, winding golden coast. You can see crystal-clear waters and fine, soft white sand, making the entire beach look like an unpolished gem, stunningly beautiful. Additionally, there are activities such as beach motorcycling, egg smashing, BBQ, and many other fun and delicious experiences waiting for you!
