Tianshan Yaochi Travel Guide

Tianchi, also known as "Yaochi" in ancient times, is said to have been a place where Mu Tianzi (King Mu of Zhou, Ji Man) sang with the Queen Mother of the West more than 3,000 years ago, leaving a famous story for future generations. To this day, there is still a temple dedicated to the Queen Mother of the West, also known as the Niangniang Temple, on the shores of Tianchi Lake. It is a sacred place that must be visited when going to Urumqi.

Temple of Queen Mother of the West

The Xi Wangmu Ancestral Temple (Yaochi Palace) is located on the eastern shore of Tianchi in the Tianshan Mountains. It is one of the oldest and highest-altitude Taoist temples in Xinjiang, dedicated to the worship of Xi Wangmu and the heritage of Taoism and Xi Wangmu culture.
Bogda is the highest peak in the eastern section of the Tianshan Mountains.

Feilong Pool

Also known as Dongxiaotianchi, it is located in a northeast valley of Tianchi, 500 meters east of the main lake of Tianchi, formed by the discharge of the main lake of Tianchi. It is also known as Feilongtan because it is said to be the nest of Xiaofeilong. It is also said to be the place where Xi Wangmu bathes and washes, hence the names "Shuxijian" and "Yuxianpen".
West Xiaotian Lake is located two kilometers below Tianchi Lake, beside the road. The water surface is shaped like a full moon, and the pool water is clear and deep, with reflections in the pool.
