Regulations for Using Chinese Driver's Licenses in Australia

Chinese driver's licenses can be used to drive in Australia under certain conditions. Different states and territories have slightly different regulations regarding overseas licenses. Visitors or temporary visitors holding a Chinese driver's license can legally drive in Australia for a certain period but need to carry a valid original Chinese driver's license and an English translation by a NAATI Level 3 translator.

In New South Wales, temporary visitors holding a Chinese driver's license can drive in the state with a valid Chinese driver's license, but they must also carry an English translation of the Chinese driver's license. If you have become a permanent resident of Australia or have obtained a permanent visa and intend to reside in NSW, you can use your Chinese driver's license to drive, but only for up to three months. After that, you need to apply for an NSW driver's license.
In South Australia, the speed limit near schools is 25km/h.
In the Northern Territory, the speed limit on highways is 110km/h or 130km/h.
