Beijing has 6 great places to enjoy cross-talk performances and Peking opera

Cross-talk and Beijing Opera are traditional arts in Beijing. Come to these places on a weekend and experience the charm of traditional culture!

Xiaobao Fupu (Jiaodaokou Theater)

"Xiaobao Fupu" is a crosstalk troupe composed of more than 30 members, almost all of whom are post-80s males. It quickly rose to fame at the end of 2008, with their crosstalk performance videos gaining high viewership on video sites like Douban. They cleverly incorporate various internet slang, popular phrases, and news events into traditional crosstalk, giving it a strong sense of the times and comedic effect.

Deyunshe (Deyun Theater)

The 'Beijing Crosstalk Conference' affiliated with Deyunshe performs five to six shows weekly at venues such as Tianqiao Le Tea Garden. In the mid-1990s, due to well-known reasons, Chinese crosstalk art entered a low period. Many crosstalk performers turned to the film and television industry to seek fortune, including quite a few big names, and some even became wealthy by changing careers.

Beijing Huguang Guild Hall

A 200-year-old theater where you can watch both crosstalk and Peking opera. The ancient courtyard houses a splendidly decorated 200-year-old theater. This place was once the residence of the Qing Dynasty scholar Ji Xiaolan and later became a venue for opera performances. Since 2013, the Deyun Society has been performing here regularly. Those interested can come and experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture. The venue is not large, and even the cheapest tickets allow you to hear clearly.
An old brand theater in Beijing, mainly performing classic plays. These plays retain the original flavor of traditional opera while reflecting the cultural atmosphere of changing times. It allows more famous opera experts and fans to engage in academic exchanges through the stage of Chang'an, making Chang'an Grand Theatre a sacred place for both domestic and international audiences to focus on Chinese traditional folk opera and appreciate Peking Opera.
The theatre is entirely wrapped in transparent glass curtain walls. Through the bright glass, you can see a Chinese red wall that exudes royal grandeur. Every night, it shines like a red crystal embraced by two skyscrapers. The stage features six lifting platforms, three mobile lifting vehicles, over fifty electric hoists, and an American Wenger acoustic shell system of international standards, creating a dazzling visual and auditory experience. In addition to being suitable for Chinese Peking Opera performances, it can also accommodate various art forms such as domestic and international operas, dramas, dance dramas, and concerts. Not only Peking Opera, but also domestic and international operas and dramas are performed here.

Lao She Teahouse

Lao She Teahouse has become a comprehensive cultural enterprise that integrates Chinese opera culture, food culture, tea culture, and Beijing flavor culture. It combines various forms such as old Beijing teahouses, restaurant teahouses, wild tea stalls, and book teahouses. The teahouse is divided into three floors, with a business area of over 2600 square meters. The 'Qianmen Sihe Tea Courtyard' on the second floor is designed in the style of the traditional Beijing courtyard house. While retaining the original appearance of the main house of the old Beijing courtyard, it also reflects the characteristics of 'northern solemnity and southern elegance.' The various rooms are arranged in a staggered and varied manner, combining traditional art with modern technology.
