So the hotel probably has to bear the cost of this. I'm sure there are people in our group who are leaving from Jiangsu and Zhejiang on August 10th. If I were going to Seattle, I would have also booked to leave on that day ?

Typhoon impact is force majeure, with relevant proof from airlines and weather, which can be provided to booking and hotels to exempt responsibilities.
I tried it. The last time I flew with EVA Air in Taiwan, I encountered a typhoon. I couldn't take the United Airlines domestic flight in the United States, and neither the airline nor the hotel would compensate for the tickets and hotel.
