From San Francisco to LA direction, you can drive to Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge and turn north on Highway 101. Then turn onto Highway 46 and circle back to San Simeon and continue on Highway 1. If you are short on time, you can directly drive on Highway 101 to LA. This detour will waste about 2 hours.
