Excuse me, is the Highway 1 from San Francisco to Los Angeles still going to have a mountainous detour via Lucia? Is the mountain road easy to drive on ?

Currently, Highway 1 is not open. You can take Highway 101 as a detour. The road conditions are good, but there are a lot of cars.
It's easy to walk, but scenic spots need to be guided in sections, otherwise you will deviate from Highway 1. But there is a section of the road from Monterey to San Simeon that is closed.
The most beautiful part of the Highway 1 is the coastal road from Monterey to the south, but it can only be driven for a certain distance. From the town of Carmel, driving south for 80 kilometers, the road is closed. You can either return to Monterey on the 101 highway along the original way or take a mountain road back to the 101 highway at a distance of 8 kilometers south of the closure. The mountain road is not as easy to drive as the original return road, so you need to drive slowly. Both returns take one and a half to two hours, but the scenery is very beautiful.
I walked by, and it was okay. The scenery was nice.
