I would like to ask, is it related to children sitting on their legs in Bangkok ?

No, it's all random checks. It's okay.

We have two kids, one is 8 years old and the other is 3 years old. There is no car seat for them, and the car rental company does not require us to provide one. However, we went to Nakhon Pathom from Bangkok on the 4th, and I don't know how strictly Bangkok checks.

It's definitely not good! Thailand requires all passengers in the car to wear seat belts, and younger children can request a baby car seat from the rental company. The car inspections are actually random checks and not every car will be stopped on the road for inspection. For the sake of safety during the journey, it's better to be more self-disciplined.

Policemen are rarely mean.
