Pattaya is about 350km away from Koh Chang, and it is about 270km from Bangkok to Pattaya. There is no problem driving on the peninsula, but the technique and speed are required. It is not recommended to cross the sea because the road conditions on the island are not good for driving. On the contrary, you can rent electric scooters (if you have a license) at the Koh Chang pier, which costs only 250 to 350 THB per day. It's very convenient.
