The expressways on the island are unmanned. There is a barcode on the car that automatically generates a bill based on the mileage you travel on the expressway in the current or next month and charges it to your rental company. The rental company then settles with you. In other words, when you return, there is a deposit that is not refundable, which will be deducted together with any fines and expressway fees after 2-3 months.
