I went at the end of July and also rented a four-wheel drive. My dad, who has been driving for over twenty years, was the one driving. The weather was nice, but he said the road conditions were not good. There were basically no guardrails on the road, and we encountered a lot of steep slopes on the highway. I had read a lot of posts before, and they all said that the weather in October can change a lot. I recommend renting a four-wheel drive, just for your reference.
