You can drive to Mount Gambier in 6 days. Stay in Geelong on the same day, and book a hotel by the sea in the city.

You can stay in Geelong on the first day, then Lorne, Apollo Bay, Port Campbell, Warrnambool. Six days on the Great Ocean Road feels a bit long, it is suggested that you can choose some guesthouses with their own farms, with more animals inside, children can get close to animals, which may be more rich than just watching seaside scenery.
