No need to cancel. You can still go to Big Sur and return to Monterey via Highway 68, 101 to Danish Town.

If you don't have to rush, you can stay in Monterey for one night and then drive to Danish Town for one night along Highway 101. This day's drive is about 3 hours, which is relatively relaxed. I have booked one night each in Monterey and San Min. If the road is closed, you can go to Hearst Castle on the same day. The hotel is opposite the beach, where you can look at the sea and daydream.
