There are two places for VAT refund at Barcelona Airport: Blue Refund after security check, and others before counter 520. The refund procedures are the same: 1. Get the VAT refund form from the place of purchase. If it can be refunded on the spot, it will be refunded directly; 2. Go to customs for check, you can use DIV machine to self-service (it may check the goods, so it should be handled before checking in); 3. If the VAT has been refunded at the time of purchase, put the VAT refund form into the mailbox of the corresponding refund company; 4. If the VAT has not been refunded at the time of purchase, go to the corresponding counter company for refund.

If it is Madrid T1, there is a machine opposite number 196. Take out the tax-free form and scan it. If the form is already in the system, you can go through security and then process the refund. If the scan does not show in the system, you will need to queue at 196 for manual processing.
