Try not to drive at night, but last time I went to Phillip Island and stayed at a nearby countryside cabin hotel. The drive is not far. There are big and small animals on the road at night, which is more dangerous. Remember to bring food, most suburban hotel dining halls close early, and you have to buy food when you pass by supermarkets or convenience stores.
