Has anyone been asked to show the cash they have on them when entering Spain? How much cash do you think is required ?

Thieves are everywhere in the world, so you have to be careful wherever you go.

When we entered the country, no one checked, but it's best not to carry too much cash. It's convenient and safe to carry cards. On the second day in Madrid, on the way to the Royal Palace, a friend's wallet zipper was opened and two cards were lost. We quickly called to report the loss, and didn't lose a penny. The thieves there are very skilled, so you must be careful. When we were walking, we had someone in front and behind us, but we didn't know when the thief struck.

Don't bring too much cash. Spanish pickpockets are quite famous.
