Just came back from Granada two days ago, I don't think it's necessary to drive by yourself. It's only five or six euros to take a taxi from the city center to the main scenic spots, which is much more convenient than driving by yourself, unless your hotel is very far away, otherwise I suggest you just take a taxi.
