When picking up the car and signing the contract, just say "additional driver", hand over your driver's license and translation, pay the money. Each company is different. In fact, this additional driver only involves a three-way accident. If you accidentally hit the curb or a tree with your own car, they can't verify who was driving. But if there is an accident with a third-party vehicle and the registered driver is not driving, and you haven't bought an additional driver, then all insurance is invalid and the deductible becomes infinite.

Last time I called the customer service and asked, they said it could be handled at the car rental company's counter and would cost money.
