I mainly want to ask if there are any potential hazards such as robberies and carjackings when driving in rural areas at night ?

No one can guarantee absolute safety. But generally there's nothing to worry about.
It's very safe here. There are more police and police cars in London. You can hardly see any police in the countryside. After driving for nine days, I have been to both cities and countryside, and I haven't found any traffic accidents. Most importantly, if everyone follows the rules, life will be much easier.
It's very late at night, almost 10 o'clock, so we usually arrive at our accommodation before it gets dark. We feel very safe on our way back to London through the countryside and highlands. But after all, we are in a foreign country, so it's right to be vigilant.
