Can I rent a car in Naples and drive to Sorrento, Positano, and Amalfi without passing through ZTL? Are local rentals exempt from ZTL restrictions ?

The Amalfi Coast has a bit of a ZTL area in each town, and if you stay on the main road you won't enter.
Sorrento has a historic city center, depending on where your hotel is booked. The Amalfi Drive is very narrow, and there are often rows of cars parked on the side of the road, so it's best to rent a small car. I didn't enter Positano and Amalfi town at all, the first time was not enough, and second there was no place to park. Absolutely must buy insurance, it is very likely to happen to scrape. If you have time, you can consider staying in each town for two nights, one day on the road, and the other day playing in the town, or both stay in Sorrento, take a boat every day to the coastal towns of Amalfi, or drive up before 8 o'clock in the morning, play along the town. Finally stay in Ravello for three nights, and then get up early and drive away.
I have walked this line. There are basically no ztls.
