When approaching York Cathedral, there are paid parking spaces on the side of the road, which takes a few minutes to walk. However, if your car is fine in the city center, you can also drive your car to the side of the cathedral, but there is no parking space.
There is a large parking lot near York Station. It's the kind where you pay when you leave. The most it would cost for a full day is 10 pounds. We parked for just an afternoon and it was less than 7 pounds.
On the left of York Cathedral, turn left at the crossroads, then turn right at the second alley after that. You can take a shortcut to the cathedral by walking out of the small alley.
There are some temporary parking spaces by the York city wall where you can park for 10 minutes. It's fine to stay a bit longer before 10am. There's an indoor car park at the end of Shambles Street where you can pay by card. Look out for the P sign. On the main road at the end of Shambles Street
