Remember to refuel the car early, preferably within 20 kilometers, add a little more, and the meter will basically not jump when driving to the return store.

If the car is picked up with a full tank of gas, it must also be returned with a full tank. Otherwise, the car rental staff will charge you for a full tank of gas when you return the car, and then deduct it from your credit card.
