Can you tell me how parking in Madrid and Barcelona works? I've read online that it's free on weekends. Is that true? Is it free all day on weekends? And if it's a weekday, is it free from 9pm to 9am the next day? Is that true ?

Spain has different colored parking lines. Some are for temporary parking, some have parking meters. It's better to find a parking lot for temporary parking. Most hotels do not provide free parking. It's usually 20 euros/day. You can also find public parking nearby for about 15 euros.
