You can really take your children on a trip when you have time, which has a positive impact on their growth.

Arrived at the big island! The airport is very special, open-air. I booked a TOYOTA RAV4 from ALAMO car rental company on Rent-A-Car website. When I arrived in the afternoon, there was a free shuttle bus to the car rental point from the airport. The RAV4 was no longer available, so it was replaced with a Chevrolet SUV, which is probably similar to the domestic Captiva. I went to the counter with the printed receipt to register and pick up the car. The staff was very nice and mentioned other insurance, but we didn't need to purchase it. Driving on the road, the scenery was visually stunning. I stopped at a lookout and saw three goats, which is a good sign. Checked into the hotel, where supposedly 90% of the rooms have a sea view. The view from our room's balcony was beautiful (taken the next day). In the evening, we went to the shops nearby the hotel, where there is a somewhat famous Tommy Bahama restaurant. We ordered a generous portion of ribs and the signature coconut frozen dessert. Unfortunately, we had already eaten quite a bit before taking photos, so the pictures didn't turn out well.

I agree with the above! The impact on children's independence is reflected in a trip.

In the evening, continue to enjoy the beautiful sunset, continue to eat and drink. We went to the King's Shop at Waikoloa (where Hilton and Marriott hotels are located, just a few minutes' drive from where we stayed, actually the coast a little south of our hotel's coast). There is a Hawaiian specialty restaurant called Three Fat Pigs, which is highly recommended in many places. Their specialty is pork, but the beef is also excellent. It has a symbol recognized by a US** organization, which is the highest grade of beef, all raised in local ecological pastures. Of course, the price is also high! The first photo is beef, and the second photo is the signature pork, which is so delicious, I'm still drooling looking at the photos. Having breakfast at the hotel is a very enjoyable thing, of course, you have to be careful not to let the birds share it with you from time to time.

I'm leaving the big island, I feel like 6 days is not enough. I've driven over 1000 miles, good job! Returned the car with a full tank, the navigation was accurate, and someone took a selfie before returning the car. The airport is still unique and open. I bought a ticket for Hawaiian Airlines to fly to Honolulu. Tip: Checked baggage incurs a fee, so it's better to register as a member online to earn points and get a discount on baggage fees. The airport in Honolulu is much larger. I had already rented a car and took a free bus to the pick-up point. This time it was with DOLLAR, and I rented a large car, a Nissan Altima, which is spacious. Japanese cars are fuel efficient, but it doesn't have a reverse radar, which is a bit unusual, but it's not a problem for experienced drivers like us. There were a lot of people at DOLLAR, so it took some time to pick up the car, and it was already past 1:30 when we hit the road. Pearl Harbor is very close to the airport, just a ten-minute drive. Although many travel guides mention that tickets are not available after 10 am, we still planned to go and see. We got tickets for 3 pm, which was great! It was an educational place and quite interesting. We left at 4 pm and went to the outlets as planned, which wasn't far away. The outlets were small, with few brands and average prices, and many Asian faces. We arrived in the evening, and many items had already been sold out by Asian shoppers, so it might be better to go in the morning. We bought a few things, but didn't really have the desire to shop. We found a famous Chili's across the street, and food is always important! I highly recommend their ribs and desserts. The ribs were so good that we forgot to take a picture. Absolutely fantastic! The dessert was their signature molten lava ice cream cake, which was huge. Then we went to the hotel, walking along the bustling Waikiki Beach street, which felt very different from the big island. The Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach hotel is not very big from the outside, but the rooms are quite spacious and the beds are comfortable. It's worth it for $1000 including breakfast and wifi. It's very close to the zoo, so we parked our car in the zoo parking lot and bought hours on the machine with a credit card. It's basically $10 for a day of parking, much cheaper than the $30 at the hotel.

Yes, traveling independently and traveling with a group are very different experiences.

The next day, I booked a dolphin encounter, which was very interesting. The dolphins swam right next to you while you were swimming. According to the law, you are not allowed to touch them, but they can touch you, although no one actually touched them. It's just a joke! I didn't bring an underwater camera, so I just enjoyed the moment freely. I also borrowed some photos from a professional photographer to reminisce. On the first day of the long flight, we arrived at the hotel in the evening. After the morning dolphin encounter, we took a nap at the hotel in the afternoon and then went to the shops nearby (a combination of dining, shops, and a supermarket, not very big, but you can find everything you need) to get familiar with the surroundings. The hotel is a three-minute drive away, but it takes about 20 minutes to walk. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus for transportation. One day, after having some wine for dinner, we wanted to buy some food for the next day, so we called the shuttle bus, and a car was dedicated to serving the three of us. In the evening, we had a beach sunset buffet at the hotel. It was beautiful!

Today's island tour mainly includes: Diamond Head Crater, Hanauma Bay, Halona blow hole, Mānana Island or Rabbit island, Pali Lookout, Hawaii Government & Executive Mansion, Lolani Palace, King Kamehamehal’s Statue, Washington Palace, State Capitol, Bishop Museum, etc. Breakfast on the third floor of the hotel is self-service, with a variety of options including eggs, bread, meat, fruit, yogurt, cereal, and even congee and miso soup. The best part is that there are take-out cups for coffee. We wanted to climb Diamond Head, but the parking lot was full, so we moved on to the next stop. The scenery along the coast is breathtaking, with lookout points along the way. The weather changed as we reached Kailua, and it started raining. We had to walk through the rain to reach the lookout point, and then continued on to the palace, city hall, King's statue, Washington Palace, State Capitol, Bishop Museum, and churches. We also visited Aloha Tower, which surprisingly had very few visitors. We took the elevator to the observation deck on the tenth floor and enjoyed the stunning views of the harbor and the city. For lunch, we had a simple meal, and in the evening, we went to Fook Yuen Seafood Restaurant for lobster. We arrived early, but without a reservation, we had to wait for a table. The lobster was $11.99 each, and we could only order three per person, along with another main dish. The prices for the dishes were around $10-15 each, and we ended up spending a total of $99. After dinner, we watched the weekly fireworks show at Hilton, and then strolled through the night in Waikiki. We couldn't resist the temptation of The Cheesecake Factory and ended up getting two large slices of cake to go. We also bought a mat at the ABC supermarket on the way home for $2.99. Tomorrow, we plan to go snorkeling at Hanauma Bay.

In the morning, I made an appointment to see the whales. The humpback whales will return to Hawaii for the winter. February to March is the best time to see whales. Whales were filmed, but there are few photos and it's not easy to capture them. In the afternoon, I returned to the hotel for a rest and then headed north. The goal: HAWI town, Pololu Valley lookout. On the way, I also encountered a convoy of US military vehicles.

Today, continue north along Highway 19 to see Waimea and Waipio Valley outlook; then go to Akaka Falls in Hilo; finally, drive up Mauna Kea on Highway 200. Oh! Such a fulfilling day! Bought lunch at the hotel, brought a thermos with ice and drinks for the road. Dinner will definitely be on the mountain. According to previous experience, we brought three packs of instant noodles. Eating instant noodles and drinking hot soup on the mountain is such a happy thing! Japanese and Korean tourists also bring instant noodles to the mountain, it seems that Asian tastes are similar. It started raining on the way to Hilo, and there were a few sections of the road that almost reached torrential rain, and I was driving. I was anxious and worried. How can we enjoy the scenery in heavy rain? Fortunately, our luck was good, and the weather cleared up when we arrived at the scenic spot! Happy, happy! With the beautiful scenery of Waipio Valley, lunch was great! Akaka Falls, $5 per car. Started driving on Highway 200, and it was still raining after leaving the waterfall. I was muttering all the way, probably won't see anything on the mountain in this weather, debating whether to go back to the hotel directly. My husband said it well, since we're here, let's make the most of it. After all, we're already on Highway 200, so let's go up the mountain and take a look. Our luck continued! When we reached halfway up the mountain, the rain stopped, and later we even saw the sun! The rain slowed down the car speed, and by the time we reached the visitor center, it was a bit late. We definitely wouldn't see the sunset at the mountaintop, so we immediately decided to watch the sunset at the visitor center. There's always some regret in a journey. Quickly put on thick clothes (it's really cold at night when stargazing), and went to the best viewing spot across from the visitor center, needing to climb a small hill. No signs of altitude sickness at all. Mauna Kea, the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen, no doubt about it! Mauna Kea, the most beautiful Milky Way I've ever seen, no doubt about it!
